March/April 2024 Update

The writing continues.

It is still difficult to find time to write as I work full-time, but I am happy with my recent progress. I am just under halfway on the next book in the series.  I still don’t have a name for it and hoping one will present itself before I write “The End.”

Please reply by email if you’d like me to shoot you a sneak peek.

What is happening.

In the first book, I wanted to pay tribute to a young man that gave his life in Afghanistan weeks before he was due to rotate home. His loss hit me hard as I had worked with his mother for years. Kenneth, the Captain of the Temple Guards is in honor of Corporal Kenneth Necochea. To honor the others in his unit that died that day, those young men’s names will appear in future Avalon Found books. Currently Sargent Sean Collins and Sargent Willie McLawhorn are penciled into the current project.

What I’m Reading

Under Siege, Book 11 of The Last Hunter series by J.N. Chaney and Terry Mixon.
This has been a great series with many sub plots working at the same time. Chaney and Mixon do a great job keeping the multiple plots moving forward, weaving them back into the story with another twist for Admiral Jack Romanoff to deal with

Lord Fouls Bane by Stephen Donaldson.
I read this years ago and forgot who the author was. It is funny how much you forget and remember as you read the book after many years.

Looking ahead.

As the story stalls, I take that time to re-read and edit the previous chapters. This exercise has helped spawn more ideas and even a few new characters. While the words slowly get added to the page, I am very happy with what the story looks like. With being halfway now, I’m eager to see if the ending I have in mind changes in any way.
